Qualcomm Introduces FastConnect 6900 and 6700 Modules: Support for Wi-Fi 6E and Speeds up to 3,6 Gbps

California-based Qualcomm is moving forward and is looking not only to strengthen its leadership in the 5G market, but also to cover new frequency bands. Qualcomm today introduced two new FastConnect 6900 and 6700 SoCs that should raise the bar for the next generation of mobile devices in terms of faster Wi-Fi and Bluetooth performance.

As the manufacturer assures, the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 and 6700 chips are designed from scratch and are designed to work in Wi-Fi networks of the sixth series (Wi-Fi 6E) in the new 6 GHz frequency band, which provides data transfer rates up to 3,6 Gb / s ( on FastConnect 6900) or 3 Gbps (on FastConnect 6700). Solutions based on FastConnect 6900 will be used in premium devices, 6700 - in the mass segment of smartphones.

The improved performance is the result of a number of key new features. So Qualcomm's advanced 4K QAM modulation method sends more data over a given Wi-Fi frequency spectrum than existing 1K QAM. Now available at 2 GHz, Quad-Stream (2x2 + 2x6) Dual Band Simultaneous (DBS) technology provides many possible ways to use multiple antennas and bands to transmit or receive information. Support for dual-band 160 MHz channels allows for up to seven additional non-overlapping channels in the 6 GHz band, in addition to those already available in the 5 GHz band.

Qualcomm's latest creations also feature low response times for VR-class devices, with Wi-Fi 6 bringing latency down to less than 3ms, providing the foundation for the growth of mobile gaming and XR applications.

Support for the latest Bluetooth 5.2 standard and dual Bluetooth antenna means improved reliability and range, says Qualcomm. In addition, the updated aptX Adaptive and aptX Voice codecs enable wireless music and voice transmission at 96 kHz and 32 kHz, respectively.
