Quick Share: similar to AirDrop technology, but only for Samsung smartphones

The South Korean company Samsung is developing its own analogue of Apple AirDrop technology, which allows users to share files without using third-party applications. According to available data, the technology, called Quick Share, will soon become available to owners of Samsung devices running Android.

Quick Share: similar to AirDrop technology, but only for Samsung smartphones

Quick Share technology is a fairly simple tool for quickly sending files between two Samsung smartphones. The report states that the technology will work like similar solutions already on the market. If two smartphones that support Quick Share are located next to each other, their owners will be able to exchange images, videos and other files. There are two options for sharing files. By selecting "Contacts Only" in Quick Share settings, you will be able to share files with other Samsung Social users added to your contacts list. If you activate the β€œFor everyone” item, it will be possible to exchange files with any devices that support Quick Share.

Unlike other similar services, the South Korean company's technology will allow files to be temporarily uploaded to the Samsung Cloud, after which they can be transferred to other users. The maximum allowable size of a file uploaded to the cloud is limited to 1 GB, and in one day you can move up to 2 GB of data there.

The source says that the Quick Share service may be launched along with the Galaxy S20+ smartphone. Most likely, the feature will be supported on all Samsung devices with One UI 2.1 and later versions of the shell. It's possible that Quick Share will be available on many older Samsung smartphones that are receiving software updates. The timing of the launch and the speed at which the feature is distributed is entirely up to Samsung.

Let us remember that it was not so long ago is known that Google is preparing to release its own file sharing solution called Nearby Sharing, which will be supported by Android smartphones.
