Gnome stabilization work on Wayland

A Red Hat developer by the name of Hans de Goede presented his Wayland Itches project, which aims to stabilize, fix bugs and shortcomings that arise when running Gnome on Wayland. The reason was the desire of the developer to use Fedora as his main desktop distribution, but so far he is forced to constantly switch to Xorg due to many small problems.

Problems described include:

  • Issues with TopIcons extensions.
  • Hotkeys and shortcuts do not work in VirtualBox.
  • Unstable build of Firefox under Wayland.

He invites anyone who has any problems running Gnome on Wayland to send an email describing the problem and he will try to fix it.
