Programmer who worked with Julian Assange arrested while trying to leave Ecuador

Ola Bini, a Swedish software engineer with close ties to Julian Assange, has been detained while trying to leave Ecuador, according to online sources. The arrest of Bini is associated with an investigation into the blackmailing of the President of Ecuador by the founder of WikiLeaks. The young man was detained by police at the end of this week at the airport in Quito, from where he intended to go to Japan.

Ecuadorian authorities believe that Bini may be involved in blackmailers who put pressure on the Ecuadorian leader to delay Assange's eviction from the country's embassy in London.

Ecuadorian diplomats expressed concern that Assange's associates, if extradited to the authorities, could launch cyberattacks to gain access to confidential government information. In response, the UK declared its readiness to provide the necessary assistance to improve the level of cybersecurity in Ecuador.

Recall that the Ecuadorian authorities accuse WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange of organizing a campaign to collect dirt on the country's president and his family. Bini's involvement in this case has yet to be proven to the police, but people who know the Swedish programmer believe that the accusations against him are unfounded. The founder of WikiLeaks himself was handed over to the British police after he had to leave the Ecuadorian embassy, where he spent the last few years.
