The work of an analogue of AirDrop for Android was first shown on video

Now a video has been published on the Internet that clearly demonstrates the operation of this technology, called Nearby Sharing.

For a long time, Android users had to use third-party apps to transfer files between devices. The platform supports Android Beam technology, but it has now been declared obsolete and has therefore lost its relevance. Some major manufacturers are working on creating solutions for transferring files between devices. For example, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have teamed up to jointly create a file transfer technology, and the South Korean company Samsung is independently developing an analogue called Quick Share.

Obviously, an analogue of AirDrop for Android from Google may become available to a wide range of users soon. One of the enthusiasts managed to activate the feature, which was originally called Fast Share, but was later renamed Nearby Sharing, on his smartphone. The file transfer feature is demonstrated in a video using Google Pixel 2 XL and Google Pixel 4 smartphones, both of which run Android 10.

Thus, we can assume that Google will soon make the Nearby Sharing feature available to all users, but when this will happen is unknown. It is unlikely that Google will delay the launch of this solution, since analogues from competitors may soon be presented. In contrast, Nearby Sharing will be universal for all Android devices, while Samsung's Quick Share can only be used on smartphones from the South Korean manufacturer.
