RAGE 2 takes Days Gone off the top of the UK charts, but sells worse than the first part in retail

Shooter RAGE 2 received mixed reviews from the press and, as it turned out, significantly inferior the original game in terms of initial sales of physical versions - at least in the United Kingdom. According to GfK Chart-Track, in the week of the premiere in this territory, four times fewer copies of the sequel were sold than RAGE during the same time in 2011. Bethesda Softworks does not disclose information about digital sales - taking them into account, the result would certainly be much better.

In 2011, the original RAGE started at number two on the UK charts: like Dark Souls, she could not dislodge FIFA 12, released a week before her. The sequel managed to top the list only thanks to the absence of serious competitors: a dark adventure A Plague Tale: Innocence from Asobo Studios and Focus Home Interactive got the ninth line. Another novelty, the Sniper Elite V2 remaster, did not make it into the top ten at all, reaching only thirteenth place. Days Gone remained the leader for three weeks in a row, and over the past week its sales have decreased by 38%, so it was not difficult to beat it.

RAGE 2 sales were distributed by platform as follows: PlayStation 4 - 57%, Xbox One - 38%, PC - 5%. However, it is worth considering that, according to statistics from Game Sales Data (GSD), digital copies now account for up to 50% of console sales in the United Kingdom, and digital stores have long become the main place for the sale of computer versions. Eight years ago, this market segment was far from being so developed.

Mortal Kombat 11 moved from the second line to the fourth. Although its sales dropped by 47%, this is not a bad indicator for the April release: the retail version for the Nintendo Switch helped the fighting game to stay in the top five. FIFA 19 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe retained their positions (third and sixth respectively), Red Dead Redemption II lost one and Grand Theft Auto V - two lines: now they occupy the fifth and seventh. Located on the eighth New Super Mario Bros. U now closes the top ten, and her place went to Tom Clancy's The Division 2.

It is curious that she managed to return to the fortieth place Sea of Thieves: There's been a slight uptick in player activity over the past two weeks as pirate action is being given away to all buyers of the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, which went on sale May 7th.
