Rambler intends to transfer the proceedings with NGINX to the civil law field

At a meeting of the Board of Directors of Rambler, held at the initiative of Sberbank, which owns a 46.5% stake in Rambler Group, The decision was made break off relations with the law firm Lynwood Investments, withdraw the application to law enforcement and ask to stop criminal case against NGINX employees. By information from the lawyer of the Center for Digital Rights, Rambler's request is not valid, so the criminal case cannot be terminated only on the basis of reconciliation of the parties -
the decision on the absence of corpus delicti in criminal cases is within the competence of the investigating authorities.

Rambler does not renounce its claims, but will try to resolve the issue in a civil law way. In particular, it is planned to organize a meeting with the founders of NGINX and representatives of the F5 company to conduct consultations on resolving the situation and familiarize themselves with materials indicating a possible violation of Rambler's rights.

At the same time, attacks on NGINX are not the only dubious legal activity of Rambler lately - December 20 takes place a court hearing at which Rambler's lawsuit against Twitch will be considered. Rambler is trying to recover compensation in the amount of 180 billion rubles for the fact that some Twitch users broadcast matches of the English Premier League (EPL) on their channels (Rambler bought exclusive rights to show the Premier League in Russia). 36 thousand views of these broadcasts on Twitch were recorded and Rambler intends to collect 5 million rubles for each user who watched the match. In addition to compensation, the claims also include the blocking of Twitch in Russia. Moscow City Court already ruled on temporarily blocking the broadcast of Premier League matches on Twitch (the requirement applies only to individual broadcasts, not the entire service, and Twitch has already has provided Rambler access to anti-piracy tools).
