The first completely Russian thermal imager with a cooling system has been developed

Rostec State Corporation announces the development of the first completely domestic thermal imager equipped with a cooling system. To date, a serial sample of the novelty is already ready.

Cooled thermal cameras provide better accuracy than uncooled cameras. Such devices are used in a variety of areas - from scientific research and process control to security systems and military equipment.

So far, foreign-made detectors have been used in thermal imagers with Russian-made cooling. The new device is completely made on the basis of domestic components.

The device received a matrix of 640 Γ— 512 sensitive elements. The thermal imager detector has a high threshold sensitivity due to the use of quantum well structures (Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector, QWIP). It is claimed that the device confidently recognizes objects at a distance of at least 3500 m, even in a wide field of view.

As for cooling, a microcryogenic system was used, which makes it possible to reduce the detector's own radiation and increase the resolution.

It is assumed that the Russian novelty will be in demand in those areas where a large detection range, high resolution and maximum frame detail are required.
