The developer of AI accelerators Graphcore was accused of “absurd behavior” and a lawsuit was filed against him

Cloud provider HyperAI from the Netherlands accused Graphcore of deceit, as the British AI chip developer first abandoned its previous commitments and then completely stated that it had never sold anything to HyperAI. As a HyperAI representative told the Datacenter Dynamics portal, the situation has reached the point of absurdity, so the company went to court. Financially troubled Graphcore said it does not comment on pending litigation but strongly denies HyperAI's claims. HyperAI, which provides cloud services in Europe, first approached Graphcore in February 2021, finding its BoW IPU AI accelerators comparable to, and in some respects superior to, NVIDIA's products. In April 2022, official information appeared that HyperAI had ordered the Graphcore BOW POD16 complex. In fact, the system was only shipped in August, but Graphcore misconfigured it, resulting in HyperAI not being able to officially launch the service until December 2022.
