Together, Garena and Phoenix Labs are committed to driving Dauntless's continued growth and "exploring new opportunities in the global and mobile markets." The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Set the direction of the development of the studio will continue the existing leadership. According to Phoenix Labs co-founder and CEO Jesse Houston, Garena will leave the team alone and fund its growth.

β€œWe are well versed in the development of [games] for PC and consoles, but our next target will be the mobile segment, as well as several emerging markets that we want to attack,” Houston said.

For the foreseeable future, though, Phoenix Labs will focus on its current project: "Our mission with Dauntless is to create the best free-to-play MMO in video game history, and we're still on track."

The release version of Dauntless was released in September 2019 years on PC (Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox One, and reached Nintendo Switch in December. The game supports cross-platform multiplayer and progress transfer.

As for Garena, its shareware mobile shooter Free Fire, released in March 2017, attracted 2019 million users by the end of 450 and brought its creators more than $1 billion.
