β€œ5G rollout in the UK may be delayed due to the need to put in place appropriate security measures,” said Jeremy Wright, pictured above, Minister for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports, adding that he disagreed in pursuit of economic benefits from the use of cheap equipment to take security risks.

β€œOf course, there is a possibility of a delay in the process of rolling out 5G: if you want to launch 5G faster, you will do it without considering security,” he told lawmakers at a parliamentary committee meeting. But we are not ready to go for it. Therefore, I do not rule out that there will be some delay.”

Huawei is the market leader in 5G infrastructure, but a number of countries have expressed concern about the company's possible cooperation with Chinese government organizations. The US has consistently warned its allies about the security concerns associated with the use of Huawei technology, and the Australian government last August banned the Chinese company from deploying 5G networks in the country.

In turn, Huawei has repeatedly denied such accusations, emphasizing that all of its assets belong to the company's staff, and not to the Chinese government.
