Red Hat moves to Jira for bug tracking

Company Red Hat, one of the largest contributors to open source software, is moving to a proprietary platform Jira to track bugs in RHEL. The company claims that the move away from Bugzilla will unify ticket management across all Red Hat products and increase the efficiency of technical support engineers.

Key changes for RHEL users:

  • Existing RHEL and Centos Stream ticket tracker goes into read-only mode
  • All new tickets must be processed through the new website issues.redhat.com
  • Maintainers Fedora haven't decided yet whether to continue using Bugzilla
