Red Hat has established a team to develop the EPEL repository

Red Hat announced the creation of a separate team that will oversee activities related to maintaining the EPEL repository. The goal of the team is not to replace the community, but to organize ongoing support for it, as well as to ensure that EPEL is ready for the next major release of RHEL. The team was formed as part of the CPE (Community Platform Engineering) group, which maintains the infrastructure for developing and publishing Fedora and CentOS releases.

Recall that the EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux) project maintains a repository of additional packages for RHEL and CentOS. Through EPEL, users of distributions compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux are offered an additional set of packages from Fedora Linux supported by the Fedora and CentOS communities. Binary builds are made for the x86_64, aarch64, ppc64le and s390x architectures. There are 7705 binary packages (3971 srpm) available for download.
