Redmi K30 will receive the world's first high-resolution image sensor

Redmi K30 is gearing up to launch on December 10 in the Chinese domestic market. The company even shared information about 5G support by the new device. Now Redmi brand executive director Lu Weibing has hinted at another feature. He noted that the smartphone will receive the world's first high-resolution image sensor, promising to tell more details at the presentation.

According to rumors, the device will indeed receive a new sensor for its rear quad camera - Sony IMX686, which is said to have a resolution of 60 megapixels and uses the principle of Quad Bayer filters. We'll have to wait until the event officially launches to find out for sure. It has already been confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K30 smartphone will support 5G in two modes: standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA). This will make it the first dual-mode 5G smartphone under the Redmi brand.

From the above official image, we can conclude that the smartphone will be equipped with a perforated display, and the cutout on the upper right side will house a dual front camera. Apart from these features, nothing has been officially announced about the technical specifications of the upcoming Redmi K30 smartphone. However, leaks indicate that the phone will have a 6,7-inch display with a screen resolution of 1080Γ—2400 pixels. The device is expected to receive a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The K30 Pro could be based on either a single-chip MediaTek Dimensity 1000 system, which Redmi already hinted, or the new Qualcomm 7xx series chip with support for dual-mode 5G and Adreno 618 graphics (the same used in the Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G). Smartphone (at least its Pro version) can get a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Redmi K30 is expected to run Android 10 operating system with MIUI 11 on top.
