The release of the new stable branch WebKitGTK 2.32.0, a port of the WebKit browser engine for the GTK platform, has been announced. WebKitGTK allows you to use all the features of WebKit through a GNOME-oriented programming interface based on GObject and can be used to integrate web content processing tools into any application, from use in specialized HTML/CSS parsers to creating full-featured web browsers. Well-known projects that use WebKitGTK include Midori and the standard GNOME browser (Epiphany).
Key changes:
- Support for NPAPI plugins has been discontinued.
- Correct application of system font scaling parameters is ensured.
- Added permissions request when accessing the MediaKeySystem API.
- An API has been proposed for removing individual scripts and styles via WebKitUserContentManager.
- In the inspection mode, detailed information about frames generated in the main event processing loop is displayed.
