CodeWeavers has released the release of the Crossover 21.0 package, based on the Wine code and designed to run programs and games written for the Windows platform. CodeWeavers is one of the key contributors to the Wine project, sponsors its development and returns to the project all the innovations implemented for its commercial products. The source code for the open components of CrossOver 21.0 can be downloaded from this page.
In the new version:
- The codebase has been updated to the Wine 6.0 branch, porting some of the changes from recent experimental releases of Wine.
- The DXVK layer with the implementation of DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 9, 10 and 11 on top of the Vulkan API has been updated to version 1.7.
- The Wine Mono component is included.
- Dark theme support has been added to macOS builds and the Vulkan WineD3D backend is enabled by default.
- On the Linux platform, the work of MS Office 2016/365 has been improved, including support for multi-monitor configurations and problems with entering a password and activating the office suite.
- Accelerated launch on Chrome OS platform.
