After about 2 months of development release of a platform for building decentralized social networks . The project provides a communication server that integrates with web publishing systems, equipped with a transparent identity system and access controls in Fediverse decentralized networks. The project code is written in PHP and Javascript and under the MIT license.
Hubzilla supports a single authentication system for social networking, forums, discussion groups, wikis, article publishing systems and websites. Also implemented is a WebDAV-enabled data store and CalDAV-enabled event handling.
Federated interaction is carried out on the basis of its own protocol , which implements the concept of WebMTA for content transmission via the WWW in decentralized networks and provides a number of unique features, in particular transparent end-to-end "Nomadic Identity" authentication within the Zot network, as well as a clone function to provide completely identical entry points and user data sets on various network nodes . Exchange with other Fediverse networks is supported using the ActivityPub, Diaspora, DFRN and OStatus protocols.
The new release includes, for the most part, changes related to expanding the capabilities of ZotVI, improving federation, as well as improving user experience and fixing bugs. Most interesting in the new release:
- Improvements to logic and procedures when working with calendar events
- Moving the new queue manager queueworker (available as an extension) from experimental to pre-test
- Translation of a single user directory into the ZotVI format
- Improved Opengraph support for channels
- Added support for additional events in the module for interacting with networks ActivityPub
