The main changes in the new version are related to the provision of official board support. Raspberry Pi 4. The Raspberry Pi 4 can handle 4K quality video, but by default the video is displayed at 1080p, and the "hdmi_enable_4kp4=60" option has been added to config.txt to enable 1K output. Raspberry Pi 4 also adds support for hardware-accelerated HEVC video decoding.

The bundled Kodi media center has been updated to release 18.5. The Linux kernel in x86 builds has been updated to release 5.1, but the Raspberry Pi has a 4.19 kernel with additional patches, borrowed from Raspbian. Added support for webcam drivers. A special interface is offered for updating firmware with a bootloader installed in the Raspberry Pi 4 SPI flash.

Recall that LibreELEC was created as a result of a conflict between the OpenELEC maintainer and a large group of developers. The distribution does not use the package base of other distributions and relies on own developments. In addition to the regular features of Kodi, the distribution provides a number of additional features aimed at making your work as easy as possible. For example, a special configuration add-on is being developed that allows you to configure network connection settings, manage LCD screen settings, and enable or disable automatic installation of updates. The distribution kit supports features such as the use of a remote control (both infrared and Bluetooth control is possible), file sharing (built-in Samba server), built-in Transmission BitTorrent client, automatic search and connection of local and external drives.
