Release of the distribution kit Network Security Toolkit 30

Submitted by release of live distribution NST (Network Security Toolkit) 30-11210, designed to analyze network security and monitor its operation. Boot Size iso image (x86_64) is 3.6 GB. A special repository has been prepared for Fedora Linux users, which makes it possible to install all the developments created within the framework of the NST project into an already installed system. The distribution is based on Fedora 28 and allows installation of additional packages from external repositories that are compatible with Fedora Linux.

The distribution includes a large selection Applicationsrelated to network security (for example: Wireshark, NTop, Nessus, Snort, NMap, Kismet, TcpTrack, Etherape, nsttracroute, Ettercap, etc.). To manage the security check process and automate the call of various utilities, a special web interface has been prepared, which also integrates a web frontend for the Wireshark network analyzer. The distribution's graphical environment is based on FluxBox.

In the new release:

  • The package base is synchronized with Fedora 30. Linux 5.1 kernel is involved;
  • Added location display support for NST WUI web interface for geotagged photos and videos. Information is extracted using the ExifTool utility and visually displayed on the NST Mapping map. You can initiate location determination through the NST WUI Directory Browser file manager, which also provides the output of indicators about the presence of geotags in files;
  • The nstnetcfg utility has been completely redesigned, which is adapted to work with the Network Manager service and now supports attaching additional IPv4 and IPv6 addresses;
  • A page has been added to the web interface for searching all domains hosted on the specified web server using the service Reverse IP Domain Check;
  • A page with an interface for calling the utility has been added to the web interface
    HtmlDump with ExifTool for parsing the content of Exif metadata in images;

  • GeoLite2 Country CSV (WhoIs) database included for IP location simulation;
  • A new implementation of the NST Shell Administration console menu has been introduced.
