Release of the distribution kit OpenMandriva Lx 4

Almost three years after the formation of the last significant branch took place distribution release OpenMandriva Lx 4.0. The project is being developed by the community after Mandriva SA transferred the management of the project to the non-profit organization "OpenMandriva Association". For loading offered 2.6 GB live build (x86_64 and "znver1" build optimized for AMD Ryzen, ThreadRipper and EPYC processors).

The release of OpenMandriva Lx 4 is notable for the switch to a package manager RPMv4, console toolkit DNF and the Dnfdragora package management GUI. Previously, the project used a separately developed branch RPMv5, the urpmi toolkit, and the rpmdrake GUI. RPMv4 is maintained by Red Hat and is used by distributions such as Fedora, RHEL, openSUSE, and SUSE. Branch RPMv5 developed by third-party enthusiasts and has been stagnating for many years - the last stable release RPMv5 was formed in 2010, after which development stopped. Unlike RPMv5, the RPMv4 project is actively developed and maintained, and provides a more complete set of tools for managing packages and repositories. Switching to RPMv4 will also get rid of the dirty hacks and auxiliary Perl scripts currently used in OpenMandriva.
