After a year and a half of development, the OpenMandriva Lx 6.0 distribution has been released. The project is being developed by the community after Mandriva SA transferred project management to the non-profit organization "OpenMandriva Association".
Live builds for the x86_64 architecture are available for download with KDE (full 3.2 GB, reduced 2.4 GB for X11 and Wayland), GNOME (3.2 GB), Cosmic (3 GB), Xfce (2.5 GB), and LXQt (2.3 GB), as well as a server build (1.6 GB). Both generic builds for all x86_64 systems and builds with optimizations for AMD Ryzen, ThreadRipper, and EPYC processors are available. servers An additional version for ARM64-based boards is also available. Users of the continuously updated OpenMandriva ROME branch, which provided access to the innovations being developed for the OpenMandriva Lx 6 branch, have already received all necessary updates (no separate distribution update is required).

Major changes:
- The default desktop environment has been updated to the KDE Plasma 6 branch. KDE Plasma 6.3.4, KDE Gear 25.04, KDE Frameworks 6.13.0, and Qt 6.9.0 are shipped. Both X11 and Wayland-based sessions are supported. An optional KDE 5-based environment includes KDE Plasma 5.27.12, KDE Gear 23.08.5, KDE Frameworks 5.116, and Qt 5.15.15.
- Updated versions of user environments in alternative builds: LXQt 2.2.0, GNOME 48.1, Xfce 4.20 and COSMIC 1.0-alpha6. Updated packages in the repository with mate, cinnamon, icewm, i3, sway, hyprland, hypr, wayfire and budgie.
- A new edition of the distribution is presented — OpenMandriva Server, which is supplied without a graphical interface and is positioned as a basis for deploying servers. Unlike desktop assemblies, the server version is supplied not in ISO format, but as a ready-made disk image suitable for launching in cloud systems and virtualization platforms. To log in to the system, a user "omv" with a password "omv" is created, and configuration via cloud-init is also supported.
To install OpenMandriva Server on stationary disks, copy the disk image to a USB Flash drive, boot and run the installer with the command "install-openmandriva". Only a minimal set of packages is included, and typical server applications are offered to be installed from repositories. In addition to x86_64 systems, server images are also formed for the Aarch64 (ARM64) architecture.
- The OM Welcome, OM Control Center, Repository Selector (repo-picker), Update Configuration (om-update-config) applications developed for OpenMandriva have been updated.

- As before, the builds include the Desktop Presets (om-feeling-like) configurator, which offers a set of presets that allow you to give the KDE Plasma desktop an appearance similar to the Ubuntu interface, various versions of Windows or macOS.
- Linux kernel 6.14.2 (optional 6.15.0-rc2) built in Clang.
- LibreOffice 25.2.3 is packaged with components for integration with Qt 6 and Plasma 6.
- Chromium 135.0.7049.84 is built with patches that remove the binding to Google services and return support for the JPEG-XL format. Firefox 137.0.2 comes with patches that remove telemetry and data transfer to third-party services.
- Updated system packages: systemd 257.5, glibc 2.41, binutils 2.44 and VirtualBox 7.1.8, Java 24.
- The Clang compiler used to build packages has been updated to the LLVM 19 branch. All components of the distribution can be built using only Clang, including a version of the package with the Linux kernel built in Clang. GCC has been updated to version 14.2.1.
- Updated user applications: Falkon 25.04.0, GIMP 3.0.2, QMPlay2 25.01.19, Telegram Desktop 5.13.1, Krita 5.2.9, Digikam 8.6.0, SMPlayer 24.5.0, VLC 3.0.21, VokoscreenNG 4.5.0, OBS Studio 31.0.3.
- The graphics stack has been updated to X.org Server 21.1.16, Wayland 1.23.1 and Mesa 25.0.4.
- Calamares installer has been updated to version 3.3.14.
- For computer game lovers, the proton and proton-experimental packages are available in the repositories.
- Support for Flatpak packages has been enabled.
