Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS distribution release

Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS update has been published. The release includes only backlog package updates related to fixing vulnerabilities and issues that affect stability. The versions of the kernel and programs correspond to version 18.04.5.

The main goal of the new release is to update installation images for the amd64 and arm64 architectures. The install image addresses key revocation issues in the GRUB2 BootHole variant 18.04 fix. This restored the ability to install Ubuntu XNUMX on systems with UEFI Secure Boot.

Using the provided build only makes sense for new installations, but for new systems, the Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS release is more relevant. Previously installed systems can receive all the changes that are present in Ubuntu 18.04.6 through the regular update system. Support for the release of updates and security fixes for server and desktop editions of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS will last until April 2023, after which updates will be formed as part of a separate paid support (ESM, Extended Security Maintenance) for another 5 years.
