Release of FreeRDP 2.3, a free implementation of the RDP protocol

A new release of the FreeRDP 2.3 project has been published, offering a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), developed based on Microsoft specifications. The project provides a library for integrating RDP support into third-party applications and a client that can be used to remotely connect to a Windows desktop. The project code is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.

In the new version:

  • Added the ability to use the Websocket protocol for connections via a proxy.
  • Improved wlfreerdp, a client for environments based on the Wayland protocol.
  • Support for working in the XWayland environment has been added to the xfreerdp X11 client (keyboard capture has been adjusted).
  • Improvements have been made to the codec to minimize the occurrence of graphic artifacts when manipulating windows.
  • The glyph cache (+glyph-cache) has been improved, which now works correctly without interrupting connections.
  • Added support for transferring large files via the clipboard.
  • Added a setting for manually overriding the binding of keyboard scan codes.
  • Improved mouse wheel scrolling.
  • Added a new PubSub notification type that allows the client to monitor the current state of the connection.
