Submitted by release of a desktop-oriented distribution GhostBSD 19.09built on the basis True OS and offering a custom MATE environment. By default, GhostBSD uses the OpenRC init system and the ZFS file system. Both Live mode and installation to a hard drive are supported (using its own ginstall installer written in Python). Boot images formed for amd64 architecture (2.5 GB).
In the new version:
Codebase moved to FreeBSD 12.0-STABLE branch with fresh system updates from TrueOS project (previously used experimental FreeBSD 13.0-CURRENT branch);
OpenRC init system updated to release 0.41.2;
Involved packages with components of the base system, developed the TrueOS project;
Reduced CPU load when using NetworkMgr;
Extra applications have been removed from the basic delivery. Boot image reduced by 200 MB;
Instead of Exaile, the Rhythmbox music player is involved;
Instead of GNOME MPV, the VLC video player is used;
CD/DVD burning software Brasero replaced XFburn;
Tiny Vim has been added instead of Vim;
The display manager features a new Slick Greeter login prompt;
Added amdgpu and radeonkms drivers to xconfig settings;
Updated Vimix theme. Improvements have been made for MATE and XFCE.
