htop 3.0.0 release

htop 3.0.0 release

After a break of more than two years, a new version of the well-known system resource monitor and htop process manager has been released. This is a very popular alternative to the top utility that does not require much configuration and is more convenient to use in the default configuration.

The project was largely abandoned after the author and main developer of htop retired. The community took matters into their own hands and after the fork of the project released a new release containing many fixes and improvements.

New in the 3.0.0 version:

  • The transition of development under the wing of the community.

  • Support for ZFS ARC statistics.

  • Support for more than two columns for CPU usage sensors.

  • Display of CPU frequency in sensors.

  • Support for battery status detection via sysfs in recent Linux kernels.

  • Show timestamps in the strace panel.

  • VIM compatible mode for hotkeys.

  • Ability to disable mouse support.

  • Added support for Solaris 11.

  • Hotkeys for searching as in the less utility.

  • Lots of bug fixes and other improvements.
