links 2.20 release

Links 2.20, a minimalistic browser, has been released and works in both text and graphics modes. The browser supports HTML 4.0, but without CSS and JavaScript. In text mode, the browser consumes about 2,5 MB of RAM.

Changes:

  • Fixed a bug that could allow the user to be identified when accessed via Tor. When connected to Tor, the browser sent DNS requests to normal DNS servers outside the Tor network if the pages had prefetch control tags (β€Ήlink rel="dns-prefetch" href="http://host.domain/β€Ί), since release 2.15;
  • Fixed issues with cookie expiration;
  • Added support for zstd compression algorithm;
  • When contacting Google, the browser now identifies itself as "Lynx / Links", and Google returns a variant of pages without CSS in response;
  • To provide smoother mouse control, the first attempt is now made to use "/dev/input/mice" instead of gpm;
  • Added support for "file://localhost/usr/bin/" or "file://hostname/usr/bin/" URLs;
  • links now works on OS Haiku.
