After a year of development, the MythTV 33 home media center platform is released, allowing you to turn your desktop PC into a TV, VCR, stereo, photo album, DVD recording and viewing station. The project code is distributed under the GPL license. At the same time, the release of a separately developing MythWeb web-interface for controlling the media center through a web browser was formed.
The architecture of MythTV is based on the separation of the backend for storing or capturing video (IPTV, DVB cards, etc.) and the frontend for displaying and forming an interface. The frontend can work simultaneously with several backends, which can be launched both on the local system and on external computers. The functionality is implemented through plugins. There are currently two sets of plugins available - official and unofficial. The range of possibilities covered by plug-ins is quite wide - from integration with various online services and the implementation of a web interface for controlling the system over a network to tools for working with a web camera and organizing video communication between PCs.
In the new version, about 1000 changes have been made to the codebase, including:
- A new web-interface for configuration is proposed.
- MythMusic has a new sound wave visualization.
- Support for the DiSEqC protocol has been added to the SAT>IP implementation.
- Automatic grouping of channels for video sources is provided.
- Updated FFmpeg version.
- The code has been restructured.
