Release of minimalistic web-browser links 2.20

Submitted by release of a minimalistic web browser left 2.20, supporting work in both console and graphical modes. When working in console mode, it is possible to display colors and control the mouse, if supported by the terminal used (for example, xterm). Graphics mode supports image output and font smoothing. In all modes, tables and frames are displayed. The browser supports the HTML 4.0 specification, but ignores CSS and JavaScript. There is also support for bookmarks, SSL/TLS, background downloads and menu system management. When running, links consumes about 2.5 MB of RAM in text mode and 4.5 MB in graphic mode.

Among improvementsadded in the new version:

  • Fixed a bug that could contribute to de-anonymization when accessing via Tor. When connected to Tor, the browser sent DNS queries to regular DNS servers located outside the Tor network if the pages contained prefetch control tags (β€Ήlink rel=Β»dns-prefetchΒ» href=Β»http://host.domain/ β€Ί). The problem has been present since release 2.15;
  • Fixed issues with cookie expiration;
  • Added support for the zstd compression algorithm;
  • When contacting Google, the browser now identifies itself as β€œLynx/Links”, and Google responds by returning a version of pages without CSS;
  • To provide smoother mouse control, the first attempt is now made to use "/dev/input/mice" instead of gpm;
  • Added support for URL "file://localhost/usr/bin/" or
    "file://hostname/usr/bin/";

  • Implemented support for Haiku OS.
