Release of the cwm 6.6 window manager developed by the OpenBSD project

Substitute portable release 6.6 of the window manager CWMdeveloped within the framework of the project OpenBSD. This window manager is based on the code evilwm, but uses modern X11 protocol interfaces, and, traditionally for OpenBSD, is developed with special attention to security issues. In addition to OpenBSD, the portable release supports FreeBSD, NetBSD, macOS (versions 10.9 and higher), as well as operating systems based on the Linux kernel.

Distinctive features of cwm:

  • Support for group window management.
  • No borders or title bar around application windows to maximize usable space.
  • A simple config file.
  • High performance and low RAM consumption.

Changes in this release (relative to the previous one):

  • Added the ability to check the configuration file without further launching cwm (the -n command line switch).
  • Added "group-close-[n]" action to close all windows of the specified window group at once.
