Drawing 0.6.0 image editor release

Published new release Drawing 0.6.0, a simple paint program for Linux that resembles Microsoft Paint. The project is written in Python and spreads licensed under GPLv3. Ready packages prepared for Ubuntu, Fedora and in the format Flatpak. GNOME is considered as the main graphical environment, but alternative interface layouts are offered in the style of elementaryOS, Cinnamon and MATE, as well as a mobile version for the Librem 5 smartphone.

The program supports images in PNG, JPEG and BMP formats. Traditional drawing tools are provided, such as pencil, eraser, lines, rectangles, polygons, freeform, text, fill, marquee, crop, scale, transform, rotate, change brightness, select and replace colors. The program is localized for the Russian language.

In the new release:

  • The bottom panel has been redesigned, the ability to use one panel by several tools has been added.
  • Operations for selection of a rectangular area, arbitrary selection and selection by color are separated into separate tools.
  • Added the ability to set any rotation angle to the Selected Area Rotation tool, and support for horizontal and vertical reflections.
  • Tools for creating shapes (circle, rectangle, polygon) are combined into one tool "Shapes" ("Shape").
  • Added an option to close an unfinished outline of a figure or an arbitrarily selected area.
  • The saturation control tool has been redesigned into a new Filters tool, which also includes blur modes, color invert, pixelate, and create transparency.
  • A new section "Additional tools" has been added to the settings.
  • Added specialized types of pencils - eraser and marker.
  • Implemented full screen mode.
  • Added the ability to zoom by "pinch" on the touchpad, hotkey or mouse wheel.
  • Added anti-aliasing option to various tools.
