Scala 2.13.0 release

Scala is a fairly complex language, but this complexity allows you to implement high performance and non-standard solutions at the intersection of functional and object-oriented programming. It is based on two major web frameworks: Play and Lift. Play uses the Coursera and Gilt platforms.

The Apache Foundation, Apache Spark, Apache Ignite (a free version of GridGain's flagship product), and Apache Kafka are written primarily in Scala. The Scala compilers and libraries are distributed under the Berkeley Software Distribution license (BSD).

In the 2019 RedMonk Programming Language Popularity Rankings, Scala is ranked 13th, ahead of Go, Haskell, and Kotlin.
