NetworkManager 1.24.0 release

Published new stable release of the interface to simplify the configuration of network parameters - Network Manager 1.24. Plugins to support VPN, OpenConnect, PPTP, OpenVPN, and OpenSWAN are developed through their own development cycles.

All innovations NetworkManager 1.24:

  • Added support for virtual routing and forwarding network interfaces (VRF, Virtual routing and forwarding);
  • Added support for the OWE (Opportunistic Wireless Encryption, RFC 8110) connection negotiation method for generating encryption keys in open wireless networks. The OWE extension is used in the WPA3 standard to encrypt all data flows between a client and an access point in public public wireless networks that do not require authentication;
  • Added support for 31-bit prefixes (subnet mask /31) for IPv2 P4P links (RFC 3021);
  • Removed libpolkit-agent-1 and libpolkit-gobject-1 from dependencies;

  • For OVS network interfaces, the ability to change the MTU has been added;
  • VPNs are allowed to use empty data values ​​and secret sequences;
  • For all nm-devices, the 'HwAddress' property is provided via D-Bus;
  • Stopped creating or activating slave devices in the absence of a master device;
  • Fixed issues with importing WireGuard profiles via nmcli and improved handling of configurations that include ip4-auto-default-route when explicitly specifying a gateway.
