Caliber 6.0 is now available, automating the basic operations of maintaining an e-book collection. Caliber offers interfaces for navigating the library, reading books, converting formats, synchronizing with portable reading devices, and viewing news about new products on popular web resources. The composition also includes a server implementation for organizing access to the home collection from anywhere on the Web.
In the new version:
- Added support for full-text search, which allows you to optionally index all books in the collection for subsequent search by arbitrary phrases found in the texts.
- Added support for ARM architecture, including Apple computers based on Apple Silicon ARM chips.
- Added "Read aloud" button for reading text aloud using a speech synthesizer (system TTS engines are used).
- Added the ability to attach a caliber:// URL to the program to create links that open books in Caliber.
- Moved to Qt 6, which led to incompatibility with plugins not ported to Qt 6.
- Support for 32-bit CPUs has been dropped.
- Ended support for Windows 8.
