After a year and a half of development submitted Release Super Tux Kart 1.0, free racing game with lots of karts, tracks and features. Game code spreads licensed under GPLv3. Binary assemblies available for Linux, Android, Windows and macOS. Despite the fact that the 0.10 branch was in development, the project participants decided, due to the significance of the changes, to publish the 1.0 release.
Main innovations:
Full-fledged online races are offered through the global network, allowing you to compete with other people anywhere in the world (previously only playing with bots, with a single screen split or over a local network was supported). For a comfortable network game, it is recommended to connect to servers with pings that do not exceed 100ms and there is no packet loss. In addition to connecting to existing servers and participation in general rating, you can easily start your own server by selecting the 'Create server' option in the GUI (the performance of the Raspberry Pi 3 board is sufficient for the server). Various types of multiplayer competitions are available, including regular races, time trials, battle mode and the new Capture-The-Flag mode.
Kart classes have been revised and their characteristics have been rebalanced (correlation between speed, weight, power, maneuverability and controllability). The user can improve some parameters at the expense of worsening others, thus forming a variant of the map that is optimal for the selected track;
The graphical user interface has been updated, vertical tabs are used to manage settings, the design of text messages has been changed, the speedometer has been significantly redesigned;
The old Mansion track (races around the palace suburbs) has been replaced with the updated Ravenbridge Mansion track;
Added a new track Black forest (racing on forest roads);
