Release of the video editor Shotcut 20.02

Published video editor release Shotcut 20.02, which is developed by the author of the project MLT and uses this framework to organize video editing. Support for video and audio formats is implemented through FFmpeg. It is possible to use plug-ins with the implementation of video and audio effects compatible with Frei0r и LADSPA. From features Shotcut can be noted the possibility of multi-track editing with the composition of video fragments in various source formats, without the need to import or re-encode them. There are built-in tools for creating screencasts, processing images from a webcam and receiving streaming video. Qt5 is used to build the interface. Code is written in C++ and distributed under the GPLv3 license.

In the new release:

  • Added the ability to process video during editing with a resolution set for preview. The proposed mode is activated through the "Preview Scaling" setting and allows you to save processor resources by intermediate processing of video with a resolution lower than the target (for example, for a target 1080p video, manipulations with a resolution of 640x360 will be performed during editing). Some filters do not support the new mode and still always process the image at the full resolution of the project. Additionally, there is a quick export mode that allows you to save a draft version with a lower resolution.
