WordPress 5.3 release

The most popular CMS WordPress 5.3 has been released.

Version 5.3 puts a lot of emphasis on improving the Gutenberg block editor. New editor features expand the capabilities and provide additional layout options and styling options. Improved styling addresses many accessibility issues, improves color contrasts for buttons and form fields, brings consistency between the editor and admin interfaces, modernizes the WordPress color scheme, adds improved zoom controls, and more.

This release also introduces a new default theme, Twenty Twenty, providing greater design flexibility and integration with the block editor.

The following options are offered to designers:

  • a new β€œGroup” block to make it easier to divide the page into sections;
  • support for fixed-width columns has been added to the β€œColumns” block;
  • new predefined layouts have been added to simplify content layout;
  • The ability to bind predefined styles has been implemented for blocks.

Also among the changes:

  • improvements to Site Health checks;
  • automatic image rotation during downloading;
  • Time/Date component fixes;
  • compatibility with PHP 7.4 and removal of deprecated functions.
