Xpdf 4.04 release

The Xpdf 4.04 set was released, which includes a program for viewing documents in PDF format (XpdfReader) and a set of utilities for converting PDF to other formats. On the download page of the project website, builds for Linux and Windows are available, as well as an archive with source codes. The code is supplied under GPLv2 and GPLv3 licenses.

Release 4.04 is focused on bug fixes, but there are also new features:

  • Changes in XpdfReader:
    • When the file is closed, the current page number is stored in ~/.xpdf.pages and when the file is opened again, this page is shown. This behavior can be disabled using the β€œsavePageNumbers no” setting in xpdfrc.
    • Added the ability to change the order of tabs using drag&drop mode.
    • Added a document properties dialog with metadata and fonts.
    • Added support for Qt6.
  • The pdftohtml utility now generates HTML links for URI references to anchors in text.
  • Some new options for CLI utilities and xpdfrc settings.
