Remedy: once Alan Wake 2 was in development

Remedy Entertainment has the rights to Alan Wake, but that doesn't mean the game will get a sequel in the coming years. However, the VG247 portal found out that the developers had already tried to create a second part, but nothing worked out.

PR director Thomas Puha told VG247 that Alan Wake 2 was in development several years ago. β€œWe worked on Alan Wake 2 a few years ago and it just didn't work out, so that's it - now we have other plans for the next couple of years. We own the rights to Alan Wake, but as always, it’s not that simple,” he said.

Pooh calls the main problems the lack of time, money and resources for the development of Alan Wake 2. The studio is currently busy with the supernatural shooter Control, which is being created with an eye on the possibility of releasing a sequel. In addition, Remedy Entertainment is developing several other projects, but all that is known about them is that they are intended for the next generation of consoles.

Alan Wake was released in 2010 on Xbox 360. It is a surreal story in the style of Stephen King and David Lynch about writer Alan Wake, who falls into the trap of the Darkness. Microsoft published the game, but Remedy Entertainment retained the intellectual property rights. In 2012, the studio released Alan Wake's American Nightmare - a continuation of the first part with more dynamic gameplay. In it, two years have passed since the finale of Alan Wake, and Alan himself is trying to get out of the Abode of Darkness.
