Publisher 505 Games and developers from Remedy Entertainment began publishing a series of short videos designed to introduce the public to Control without spoilers. The first video dedicated to the adventure with elements of metroidvania was a video about the game and briefly showing the environment:

"Welcome to Control. This is modern New York City, and the action takes place in the Oldest House, the headquarters of a secret government organization known as the Federal Bureau of Control. You play as Jessie, a young woman who is looking for answers about her past. She has been drawn to the Oldest House by a mysterious force and discovers that the building has been taken over by a dark, paranormal entity known as the Hiss. Chosen as the new director of FBK, Jessie must fight to regain Control, ”says the voice-over in the video during a demonstration of various picturesque and sometimes otherworldly locations of the game.
