Developers from Riot Games have clarified the situation with additional software installed with Valorant. It was announced that a driver to combat cheaters will be supplied along with the shooter.
Riot Games uses its own Vanguard protection system. βIt contains the vgk.sys driver component, which is the reason why the game must reboot your system after installation,β the company said in a statement. - Vanguard does not consider a computer trusted if the driver does not load at system startup. This approach is less common for anti-cheat systems. At the same time, we tried to be as careful as possible in matters of information security. We had several external security research groups review the driver for flaws."
According to the developers, the installed driver has the least possible system rights, and the driver component itself does the minimum work, leaving most of the work to the usual Vanguard software. It is also announced that the driver does not collect any information about users and has no network component at all. Finally, players can freely remove it from their computer by simply uninstalling the Riot Vanguard program using standard Windows tools.
Let us remind you that Valorant is an online heroic shooter that has been in closed beta testing since April 7. The public version of the game is promised to be released before the end of the third quarter of this year.
