Atlas robot from Boston Dynamics has learned to perform impressive tricks

The American company Boston Dynamics has long gained popularity thanks to the robotic mechanisms of its own production. This time, the developers have published a new video on the Internet, showing how the Atlas humanoid robot does various tricks. In the new video, Atlas performs a small gymnastics program that includes several somersaults, a handstand, a 360Β° jump around its axis, and a jump with legs spread in different directions.

It is noteworthy that the robot performs all actions in a sequential chain, and not individually. The description of the video says that the developers used the β€œpredictive model controller” to move from one action to another. The controller helps the robot to follow its actions. This allows you to effectively balance without losing balance after performing different movements.

Just because the developers at Boston Dynamics were able to film an Atlas robot successfully completing a sequence of actions doesn't mean it always happens. According to published data, the updated Atlas robot model successfully performs actions in 80% of cases. From the description of the video, it becomes clear that out of five attempts, one fails.

It is worth noting that Atlas continues to develop successfully. Last fall, the developers published video, which demonstrated how the Atlas robot copes with overcoming obstacles encountered on the way.
