Roskomnadzor wants to block Flibusta

Roskomnadzor decided to block the page of one of the largest online libraries of Runet. We are talking about the Flibusta website, which they want to add to the list of banned ones at the suit of the Eksmo publishing house. He owns the rights to publish books by science fiction writer Ray Bradbury in Russia, which are publicly available on Flibust.

Roskomnadzor wants to block Flibusta

Roskomnadzor spokesman Vadim Ampelonsky said that as soon as the site administration removes Bradbury's books, the page will be unblocked. At the same time, we note that the Internet resource was included in the list of banned by the decision of the Moscow City Court.

Starting from May 1, 2015, amendments to the so-called anti-piracy law came into force in Russia, which expanded its scope. According to these innovations, the authorities can block access not only to sites with illegal video content, but also to other resources that violate copyright. These are electronic libraries with pirated scans of books, and illegal sites with streaming music, and resources with software. The only exception so far are photographs, and the reason is clearly the lack of copyright protection for photographers in Russia.

Note that the version of the anti-piracy law provides for the possibility of resolving disputes with the copyright holder without waiting for a court verdict. In other words, resources may be locked before a decision is made. At the same time, it is important that if a particular resource systematically violates intellectual property rights, then access to a site with illegal content can be blocked forever. This has already happened with Rutreker.
