Roskomnadzor began installation of equipment to isolate the Runet

It will be tested in one of the regions, but not in Tyumen, as the media previously wrote.

The head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, said that the department had begun installing equipment to implement the law on an isolated RuNet. This was reported by TASS.

The equipment will be tested from the end of September to October, "carefully" and in cooperation with telecom operators. Zharov clarified that testing will begin in one of the regions, and this is not Tyumen, as the media wrote. The law itself should come into force in November, but the list of threats under which the isolation of the Runet is possible has already been determined.

Zharov promised to tell about the results of the experiment at the end of October. The agency has not yet determined the final cost of the equipment. β€œTherefore, we will finish the experiment, we will conduct it at several installation levels on the networks of telecom operators, after that we will calculate and, of course, we will apply for money,” he explained.

On September 13, Reuters reported that Roskomnadzor would check equipment in Tyumen in September that should block Telegram and other prohibited resources. On September 23, Zharov spoke about the creation of a new system for blocking Telegram and prohibited content.
