Roskomnadzor intends to block 9 VPN services within a month

Alexander Zharov, head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media, announced that the Kaspersky Secure Connection service was connected to the register of banned sites. The remaining VPN services that received a notification about the need to connect to the registry refused to comply with the law on the prohibition of bypassing blocking.

Roskomnadzor intends to block 9 VPN services within a month

According to Mr. Zharov, nine VPN services that did not comply with the requirement of the supervisory authority to connect to the state information system for restricting access to prohibited sites will be blocked within a month. He also recalled that out of ten services to which a corresponding notification was sent, only one connected to the registry. The remaining nine companies did not respond to Roskomnadzor's appeal, and also posted a message on their websites stating that the services do not intend to comply with Russian law. In such a situation, the law is interpreted unambiguously, if a company refuses to operate within the framework of the current legislation, then it should be blocked.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Zharov did not name the date from which the month should be counted until the decision to block VPN services comes into force. He also noted that the department will continue to communicate with five companies that have not declared an unequivocal refusal. In addition, the head of Roskomnadzor assured that the adoption of the law on the sovereign Internet will not be the beginning of the complete isolation of the Runet.

Recall that not so long ago Alexander Zharov рассказал that Roskomnadzor is developing new tools for blocking the popular Telegram messenger.
