We are talking about the need to localize personal data of Russian users on servers in the Russian Federation. The corresponding law came into force on September 1, 2015, but violations are still observed in this area.

So, it is reported that Mercedes-Benz, Sony and Huawei have localized databases with personal data of Russian citizens on Russian territory. Inspections showed that, in general, the named companies strive to comply with the requirements of Russian legislation. And yet there are comments.

β€œIn some cases, Roskomnadzor employees identified violations of the conditions for the processing and destruction of personal data, as well as facts of the use of citizens’ consents that did not meet the established requirements. The companies were issued orders to eliminate these violations,” the department said in a statement.

Let us add that due to non-compliance with the law on the localization of personal data in Russia, a popular social network - the LinkedIn platform for searching and establishing business contacts - has been blocked.
