Roskosmos raised prices for the delivery of NASA astronauts to the ISS

Roscosmos has increased the cost of delivering astronauts from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to the International Space Station (ISS) on Soyuz spacecraft, RIA Novosti reports citing a report by the US Accounts Chamber on NASA's commercial manned flight program.

Roskosmos raised prices for the delivery of NASA astronauts to the ISS

The document states that in 2015, under a contract with Roscosmos, the American space agency paid about $82 million for one seat on the Soyuz. Representatives of the commercial manned flight program noted that the cost of sending an astronaut to the ISS increased by 5% due to inflation. However, a specific amount was not named.

After the decommissioning of the reusable manned Space Shuttle system in 2011, NASA astronauts are delivered to the ISS exclusively with the help of Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
