The Sensor-Tech laboratory, according to TASS, plans to organize the production of a special device in June that will help people with hearing impairments to establish contact with the outside world.

The gadget was named "Charlie". This device is designed to convert ordinary speech into text. Phrases can be displayed on a desktop screen, tablet, smartphone, or even a Braille display.

The entire production cycle of Charlie will take place in Russia. Externally, the device looks like a small disk with a diameter of about 12 centimeters. The gadget is equipped with an array of microphones for capturing speech.

Currently, the device is being tested in the House for the Deaf and Blind in the village of Puchkovo in the Troitsky administrative district of Moscow. In addition, as noted, preparations are underway to start the trial use of new items in a large Russian bank and one of the domestic mobile operators.

In the future, devices may appear in various places and institutions - for example, in Multifunctional centers for the provision of state and municipal services, clinics, railway stations, airports, etc. The cost of the device has not yet been reported.
