Russian specialists, according to RIA Novosti, abandoned the idea of ββcreating a specialized medical module for the International Space Station (ISS).
At the end of last year
However, as the director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences Oleg Orlov has now said, the medical unit will not be created yet, since the fate of the ISS after 2024 remains in question.
βUnfortunately, a full-fledged medical module is not on the agenda yet. And then - it's too late for the ISS to start something new, and further plans have not yet been determined, βsaid Mr. Orlov.
Currently, all interested parties - participants in the ISS project - have agreed to extend the life of the complex until at least 2024. There is also discussion on the possibility of using the complex until 2028 or even until 2030.
We add that next year the Russian segment of the ISS should be replenished with a multifunctional laboratory module (MLM) "Nauka". Then, the Prichal hub and the scientific and energy module (NEM) will be introduced into the complex.
