Russia and China will jointly develop satellite navigation

The State Corporation Roscosmos announces that Russia has approved the Federal Law β€œOn Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Cooperation in the Application of Global Navigation Satellite Systems GLONASS and Beidou for Peaceful Purposes.”

The Russian Federation and China will be engaged in the joint implementation of projects in the field of satellite navigation. We are talking, in particular, about the development and production of civil navigation equipment using the GLONASS and Beidou systems.

In addition, the agreement provides for the deployment of GLONASS and Beidou measuring stations on the territories of China and Russia on a reciprocal basis.

Finally, the parties will develop Russian-Chinese standards for the use of navigation technologies using both systems. New generation solutions will help control and manage traffic flows crossing the Russian-Chinese border.

It should be noted that now the domestic GLONASS constellation unites 27 satellites. Of these, 24 are used for their intended purpose. Two more devices are in orbital reserve, one is at the stage of flight tests.
