Russia and Hungary may organize joint experiments on the ISS

It is possible that in the foreseeable future joint Russian-Hungarian experiments will be organized aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The corresponding possibility was discussed in Moscow within the framework of bilateral negotiations between representatives of the state corporation Roskosmos and a delegation of the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary.

Earlier it was said that Roskosmos will consider sending a Hungarian cosmonaut to the ISS aboard the Soyuz spacecraft. According to preliminary plans, the representative of Hungary can fly into orbit in 2024.

During the talks held in Moscow, the existing and future projects of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Hungary in the field of exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes were discussed.

β€œParticular attention during the discussion was paid to cooperation in the field of manned cosmonautics: the preparation and flight of a Hungarian cosmonaut to the International Space Station, as well as the possible conduct of joint Russian-Hungarian experiments on the ISS,” the Roscosmos statement says.

The final decision on sending a Hungarian cosmonaut to the ISS has not yet been made. This issue may be raised during the upcoming meeting of the parties, which is scheduled to be held in Russia in January 2020.
